Docket: NNI-CV26-6040475-S (Meriden).

Status: LIVE. Jury claimed July 8, 2026; discovery extensions granted through October 13, 2026; proceeding set for October 26, 2026.

Parties. Plaintiff Roberta Wilcox-Smith of Glastonbury. Defendant Willow Brook Wellness, LLC d/b/a Verano Connecticut, LLC, 1371 East Main Street, Meriden.

What the complaint says. Hired as a full-time receptionist in June 2022 and terminated September 22, 2023 for violating the employee handbook’s attendance section, Wilcox-Smith says her file showed no prior write-ups and alleges the termination was wrongful under C.G.S. § 46a-60, after a CHRO complaint in December 2023 and a release of jurisdiction in December 2025.

What happened. Filed December 23, 2025. Verano requested revisions; a revised complaint was filed March 19, 2026 and Verano answered with special defenses April 20, 2026. Wilcox-Smith replied, certified the pleadings closed in June 2026 and claimed a jury in July 2026 over Verano’s objection, which the court took off the calendar. Discovery extensions were granted August 21 and October 13, 2026.
