Privacy
This page describes what happens when you read this site or send us something. It is written to be accurate, not reassuring.
Reading the site
- The site is static pages hosted by Netlify. Netlify's servers keep ordinary web-server logs, which can include your IP address, browser and the pages requested, under Netlify's own retention policy.
- The site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to count visits and see which pages are read. Google sets cookies for this and receives your IP address and browser details. We see aggregate figures, not individual readers. A browser content blocker will stop it.
- Site search runs entirely in your browser; search terms are not sent to us.
- There are no accounts, no newsletters and no advertising networks.
Sending us something
- The contact form is processed by Netlify Forms and delivered to the publication's private inbox. Netlify stores submissions and applies its own logging and spam filtering.
- You can leave every identifying field blank. That stops us from knowing who you are; it does not stop Netlify's systems from logging the connection. The form is not an encrypted drop box.
- We do not publish, sell or share submissions, and we do not share them with the people or agencies we report on. We keep them as long as they are useful to the reporting.
Published documents
Records in the Documents archive are public records published as the agency or court released them, including any names they contain. If you believe a published record contains information about you that is not public, tell us.
