Docket: HHD-CV21-6144098-S (Hartford).

Status: CLOSED. Stayed pending arbitration May 2, 2022; withdrawn by the plaintiff “following arbitration” on February 17, 2026.

Parties. Plaintiff Grist Mill Partners, LLC of Avon, owner of 100 Grist Mill Lane, Simsbury. Defendant Curaleaf, LLC, the Connecticut medical producer licensee based at that property.

What the complaint says. The complaint, whose first count is unjust enrichment, recounts that Grist Mill’s chairman Daniel Carpenter negotiated with Curaleaf’s founders in 2013 to lease the Simsbury property as the production facility that supported Curaleaf’s medical marijuana producer license, and alleges Curaleaf was enriched at Grist Mill’s expense.

What happened. Filed July 2, 2021. Curaleaf answered with special defenses in September 2021. Grist Mill applied for the complex litigation docket in December 2021 and moved to strike the special defenses in March 2022. Curaleaf moved to stay the case pending arbitration; Judge David Sheridan granted the stay May 2, 2022. The court checked on the case in 2024 and 2025 and in June 2025 the parties asked for judicial alternative dispute resolution. On February 17, 2026 Grist Mill filed a withdrawal of the action “following arbitration.”

Status. Closed. The arbitration award is not on the court file.
