Docket: AAN-CV24-6054431-S (Milford).

Status: CLOSED in state court. Removed to the U.S. District Court on February 16, 2024.

Parties. Plaintiff Livia Bacon (formerly Matthew Bacon), a Shelton resident who worked as a shift lead at the RISE Branford dispensary from December 2022. Defendant GTI Rock Island, LLC d/b/a Green Thumb Industries, the Illinois-based operator.

What the complaint says. Count One alleges gender identity and expression discrimination and a hostile work environment under C.G.S. § 46a-60(b)(1). The complaint says the plaintiff, a transgender woman who was transitioning during her employment, was questioned in March 2023 by a regional asset-protection manager about an accusation that she had consumed cannabis products on shift, and that the treatment that followed was discriminatory. She first filed with the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities and sued within 90 days of its release of jurisdiction.

What happened. The complaint was filed January 26, 2024 in the Milford Judicial District. The company appeared February 8 and on February 16, 2024 filed a notice of removal to the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. The state court marked the case removed the same day. Nothing further happened in state court; the case continued, if at all, in federal court.

Status. Closed in Superior Court (removed to federal court, February 16, 2024). The state docket does not show the federal outcome.

Documents below are published exactly as they appear on the Judicial Branch’s civil case look-up (civilinquiry.jud.ct.gov). The full docket for every case is public; CannaTimes publishes the leading complaint and the outcome documents, and describes the rest in the text above.
